In 1914, the relatives, friends and acquaintances of the Niamessny couple, who belong to the leading circles of the Timisoara intelligentsia, leave for the front. Soon, the trains carrying the wounded arrive in Timisoara. The author organizes a reception committee of the city's women to alleviate the suffering of the wounded during the fighting at the railway station. During the Serbian and then Romanian occupation following the end of the war, Timisoara does not want to submit to the occupation or secession: armed resistance is organized. One of the leaders of the betrayed conspirators is the Niamessnys' seventeen-year-old son... The first edition of Margit Manaszy's sweeping diary was published with a commendable recommendation from Ferenc Herczeg, and it went through several editions between the two wars.
