Description
The reader holds in his hands a selected collection of the career, publications and public statements of Zsuzsa Radnóti (1938), Kossuth and Jászai Mari Prize-winning playwright and leading playwright of the Vígszínház, which examines the past one hundred and twenty years of Hungarian drama and the Hungarian theatre scene. Starting from the late 1950s, the author presents our defining contemporary playwrights and their theatrical appearances and reception up to the present day. The introductory study of the volume also undertakes to present the connections and trends of theatre and contemporary dramatic literature from the perspective of theatre dramaturgy. In recent decades, there has not been such a work that undertakes an analytical presentation of contemporary Hungarian drama and the fate of dramas on stage. The Moved Literature speaks validly and enjoyable about fourteen Hungarian playwrights of decisive importance, including the creator of gloomy dramas and Pest comedies, Milán Füst, or Miklós Mészöly, who launched the absurd in our country, and István Örkény, who brought the grotesque to its fullness, but also the chronicler of the eras, György Spiró, and also János Térey, who recently passed away tragically suddenly. Among the portraits of writers, we can also gain a glimpse into the playwrighting work of authors who are not primarily known for their dramatic works. One example is Péter Esterházy, but it also talks about prominent figures of independent theaters - such as Béla Pintér -, their innovations, and their workshop work. The volume also offers a selection of Zsuzsa Radnóti's public speeches, and you can also read personal writings about the author from renowned contemporary playwrights such as György Spiró or János Háy.
